Our stance on ethical issues extends far beyond just the sourcing of our beans. We aim to conduct our business fairly at all levels, whether on a global or a local scale.
This means that we aim to pay our suppliers promptly, treat our customers with courtesy and seek to provide the right deal for them rather than one that suits us.
As a long-established local institution we aim to continue to serve the local community, proud of our heritage and happy to share it with those who show an interest, aware of our responsibility as "keepers of the flame".
We work every day with over 300 products from over 50 countries, mainly from the developing World, and as such we feel a very strong bond with those fellow producers, large & small, who labour long and hard under tropical skies to bring us the very best beans and leaves!
We aim to see that they get a fair price for their efforts with a variety of sourcing and as short a chain of supply as possible. So all of our coffees are 'speciality' grade which means they are bought for their intrinsic value rather than commodity price on the stock markets.
